I explained Creative Commons in a nutshell to my husband.  I used the symbols for the different licenses to guide my explanations. My husband seemed to understand the licenses even though he was not familiar with Creative Commons beforehand.   He asked a few questions, but I found I could answer them.   He was interested in knowing how to go about accessing CC materials.  For examples, I showed him a couple of sites that have CC licensed photos:  http://animalphotos.info/a/ and http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/.  Our conversation ended with a discussion about  the need for teachers and students to learn about CC.  The elementary librarians in my school district are developing a unit about attribution for third graders to meet that need.  It’s a baby step, but at least it is a step in the right direction
